On September 15, 2018, a knife throwing enthusiast and casino bazaar came together at M1 Concourse during U CAN-CER VIVE Foundation’s second annual Cure & Couture event, “Drive for the Cure”. The heat of the day transitioned into an even hotter evening by the heat of flaming batons and performance vehicles, leading up to the ultimate reason for the occasion: fundraising for cancer research.
Electric entertainment by NUCLASSICA filled the air as guests perused silent auction items and were whisked away on thrill rides around the 1.5 mile racetrack. This was certainly an event to remember.
Our very special guest of honor, Vara, her mom, Emily, and her oncologist, Dr. Koschmann from University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, brought the room to tears. Vara was awarded U CAN-CER VIVE Child of the Year with a $5,000 personal grant. We raise money for cancer research and these are faces of why we do what we do. Pediatric cancer research receives only 4% of national funding….with your help, we are filling in the gap!
Learn more about Vara’s affliction with cancer and how she overcame it in the video below.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to all of our supporters and guests who attended and sponsored this event. We would not be making an impact in the world of cancer research if it weren’t for all of you! Our mission is to provide vital funds for cancer research so that we can all live in a cancer free world.
